If you have a concern about the welfare of a child or adult at risk or the behaviour of an adult towards a child, young person under 18 years of age or adult at risk within a Swim England Programme or Club, please report this to us to enable us to investigate fully.
Our team is staffed by individuals who are experienced in dealing with these concerns and have undergone specific training for those who have a designated role in child protection and welfare within sports.
Anyone who has a concern about the welfare of a child or the behaviour of an adult towards a child or young person under 18 years of age within Swim England, is required to refer it to our safeguarding team.

Referring a concern can be done via your Club, County or Regional Welfare Officer. Swim England has a Coach Referral Protocol where concerns regarding coaching techniques can be raised.

If you prefer, our Safeguarding team can be contacted on 01509 640700 (Option 1 for Swim England and then Option 3 for Safeguarding). Please leave it a message if the team is unavailable and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
The team will assess the information provided and take appropriate action.
If the matter is urgent and you cannot contact your Club Welfare Officer or the Swim England safeguarding team, you can call the NSPCC 24-hour helpline on 0808 800 5000.
If it is an emergency because a child or children are at immediate risk, then call the police or children’s social care in your area.
If a child or vulnerable is in immediate danger contact the police on 999. If the matter is urgent contact 101 or contact NSPCC on 0808 100 4001. (The people reporting the concern may not be aware that an immediate response/action will be not be provided by Swim England).
