PROCEDURE FOR WHEN YOU SHOULD ACT/REPORT A DISCLOSURE FROM A MEMBER

  • Signs or suspicions of abuse
  • What a child has disclosed
  • Significant and/or unexplained changes in the child’s demeanour or behaviour, including self-harm
  • Concerns about inappropriate behaviour of a child or adult
  • Allegations made against another member of the club, coach or volunteer
  • Allegations made against a parent or someone not involved in the swimming
  • Allegation or observations of bullying
  • Breach of Code Of Conduct or an incident of poor practice

This is not a definitive list.

In an emergency where child maybe at immediate risk of harm and unable to contact Welfare Officer or Swim England Safeguarding Team:

  • Ensure child is safeguarded at all times
  • Without delay, refer concern to Social Services and Police
  • Contact parents of child but only if not implicated in concern
