PROCEDURE FOR WHEN YOU SHOULD ACT/REPORT A DISCLOSURE FROM A MEMBER
- Signs or suspicions of abuse
- What a child has disclosed
- Significant and/or unexplained changes in the child’s demeanour or behaviour, including self-harm
- Concerns about inappropriate behaviour of a child or adult
- Allegations made against another member of the club, coach or volunteer
- Allegations made against a parent or someone not involved in the swimming
- Allegation or observations of bullying
- Breach of Code Of Conduct or an incident of poor practice
This is not a definitive list.
In an emergency where child maybe at immediate risk of harm and unable to contact Welfare Officer or Swim England Safeguarding Team:
- Ensure child is safeguarded at all times
- Without delay, refer concern to Social Services and Police
- Contact parents of child but only if not implicated in concern
